Who Are We And What Do We Do?

Operation Far From Home is a project established to communicate to our Jewish troops that they are not forgotten. While we cannot bring pots of chicken soup to them we can mail cans of soup along with other kosher foods, Judaic items, requested necessities, and some fun things all packed with love and caring. As they serve in conflicts, they connect us to the realities of a harsh and difficult time in history, and we serve to connect them to the Clal (community).

In Memoriam of Army Captain Benjamin Sklaver

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the death, in Afghanistan, of Captain Benjamin Sklaver of the 422nd Civil Affairs Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. Captain Sklaver was the son of Laura and Gary Sklaver of Connecticut. He was the fiancé of Beth S. also of Connecticut.
Army Captain Sklaver was one of eight troops that were killed last week in Afghanistan He was not just a brave and dedicated soldier but he was a humanitarian as well. He started http://www.clearwaterinitiative.org/About%20CWI/About.html to bring healthy and safe water to those who really needed. He began this project while working in Uganda. The people of the Ugandan village of Apookeni called him "Moses Ben." Captain Sklaver was Jewish and part of the Clal. He is survived by his parents Mrs. and Mrs Sklaver, two sibblings, a grandmother,a fiancée Beth,. If you choose to write a note and post it on our site we will get it to his family. You can also email your thoughts and feelings to team@opffh.org Remember that Operation Far From Home is not political in nature and was established to reach out to our troops serving our nation.
May Captain Sklaver rest in peace and may his family be comforted among all the other families who have made such a sacrifice knowing that he served his country and humanity with high honor.
As are the traditional words under such circumstance: May his family, loved ones be comforted among the mourners of Zion, Jerusalem snd the United States.
HaMakom yenachem et'chem b'toch shar avay'lay Tzion Yerushalayim, vee ha United States.
